Innovating in the Latin American market, Veelore brings a range of polymers from renewable sources, aiming to revolutionize the local industry.
Transforming the future
Cathay Biotech produces biobased polyamides using its patented biobased PDA. The main raw materials for these products are renewable plant materials. Compared to traditional petroleum-based polyamides, there are new bio-based materials that are eco-friendly, have excellent performance, are more sustainable and can be used extensively in textiles and engineering materials. In 2014, Cathay made a breakthrough in polyamide industrialization technology and completed pilot plant testing. A large-scale production line with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons will be operational in 2021.
Unlike the uniform carbon structure of traditional petroleum-based products, Cathay's bio-based polyamides have a unique carbon molecular structure that can yield excellent characteristics like flame retardancy, moisture absorption, easy dyeing, low warpage and high fluidity etc.
Building on its bio-based polyamide products, Cathay has launched TERRYLⓇ for the textile industry, which is used in clothing, bags, rugs, work suits, tents and other downstream textile fields. TERRYLⓇ was selected as the “New High Impact Fiber” in the textile market at the 2017 China Textile & Yarn International Exhibition (Spring/Summer) 2017, and as “Chinese Fiber Fashion Leader” for two consecutive years. For the engineering materials industry, Cathay has launched ECOPENTⓇ for applications in automotive, electronics and electrical fields, clamps, films and other engineering materials. Both TERRYLⓇ and ECOPENTⓇ can replace nylon 66 or other nylon products made from Hexamethyldiamine (HMD) for many different applications.
Recommendations presented:
Cathay's bio-based polyamide is made from renewable vegetable raw materials. Biobased content has been analytically verified by third party laboratories using ASTM 6866 methodology to have a renewable carbon content of up to 45% -100%. This effectively reduces the use of products made from fossil raw materials like oil and therefore reduces carbon emissions.
